This wonderful 3-night, 4-day trip to famed Tortugeuro National Park is easy to add to any trip in Costa Rica. The tour features daily departures from San Josť, including round trip land & boat transportation, all meals during the trip, excursions in the area, lodging, government taxes, and the services of a professional guide throughout the trip.
During your stay, enjoy the pool surrounded by exotic gardens and relax in the ranchos with hammocks. Comfortable rooms with ceiling fans provide tranquil garden views. Stroll through the nature trails or take a leisurely walk on the beach in front of the Lodge.
While here, you will be taken out on tours to the smaller canals for wildlife viewing, visit the Frog Garden, Frog Farm, Butterfly Farms, the Aquarium, Iguanas Farm and hike into the lush rain forest close to the National Park, in which nature enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the virgin forest, with its many species of birds, mammals, amphibians, and reptiles.
Tortuguero is a navigable system of brackish lakes and canals that crisscross the National Park from the southeast to the northwest and are accessible only by boat or air. There are no roads to directly access the park, making this one of the most remote and unique parks in Central America. Wildlife including over 300 species of birds, numerous reptiles and amphibians, monkeys, sloths, caimans and more all make this region their home.
The primary forest all around the area is a classic extra-humid tropical rainforest, where rainfall averages 197 inches per year, but it can go up to 236 inches in some parts. Elevation goes from sea level up to 1020 feet at Sierpe Hill. The climate is warm and humid, average annual temperature is 80 F (36 C). While it can rain anytime of year, the rainiest months are from June through October; conversely, the driest months are February to May.
