Peru: Machu Picchu Tour by Train (7-day itinerary, Lima to Lima)

On this page: Overview | Itinerary | Pricing

(2-day, 1-day, and Hiram Bingham train itineraries follow).

Overview

This 7-day package starts in Lima, traveling to Cusco, Sacred Valley, by train to Aguas Calientes, and shuttle bus to the Machu Picchu Sanctuary. Once at the Sanctuary the tour goes along a little-visited section of the Inca Trail of spectacular flagstone through incredible landscapes and mountain scenery entering Machu Picchu the way the Incas did, through Inti Punku (the door of the sun), followed by a guided tour of the citadel. The itinerary ends back in Lima. Note that it is all group tours for the Cusco city tour, the Sacred Valley tour and the Machu Picchu tour. Otherwise, you are on your own to explore the cities and ruins. It is the best value, yet gives independence to do as you wish!

Itinerary: Day 1 Lima, 2-3 Cusco, 4 Sacred Valley, 5 Machu Picchu, 6 Machu Picchu/Cusco, 7 Cusco/Lima / Departure.
