Overview Itinerary Pricing

Day 1 : Arrive Cape Town

Visiting: Cape Town, South Africa

Arrive Cape Town, where you'll be met and transferred to your choice of a moderate hotel (Cape Cadogan) or luxury hotel (Cape Grace for example - extra charges would apply). We also offer this tour with other specialty hotels, including Queen's Hotel (on the waterfront), the 12 Apostles Hotel (near Camps' Bay), Kensington House (a boutique hotel near Oranjezicht), and the Welgelegen Guest House (an elegant guesthouse near the Gardens suburb). Contact us for details and prices if you're interested. Upon arrival, overnight Cape Town for the next three nights.

No matter where you stay or if you overnight 3 nights or 4 nights, please make time to wander the bustling Victoria & Alfred waterfront (most of the luxury hotels we book are right there, making access as simple as walking out your door). The popular seaside walkways are lined with refurbished historical buildings, museums, boutiques, craft markets, hotels, bars and cinemas. Dine at a world-class restaurant with superb views of the buzzing harbor and Table Mountain. The Two Oceans Aquarium is also located here and tours of Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned, depart from the Waterfront daily.

*** The Cape Cadogan is a stately double-storeyed Georgian and Victorian building that dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. It was originally a farmhouse which was ‘Victorianised’ in 1912 and declared a national monument in 1984. The hotel offers a garden and pool area, a library and 12 luxuriously appointed en-suite bedrooms that are decorated with an eclectic mix of contemporary and antique furniture using dramatic fabrics to maximum effect.

*** Staying at Cape Grace is an experience in itself, melding the modern comforts of a Cape Town luxury hotel with traditional Cape culture. And there is no better position for a V&A Waterfront hotel than with Table Mountain standing sentry and towering over the hotel, a working harbor to one side and a multi-millionaire yacht basin on the other. It’s a heady mix of tantalizing experiences, which makes time spent at Cape Grace something to remember forever.

Day 2 : Half-day Classic Tour of Cape Town

Visiting: Cape Town, South Africa

Drive to the Castle, South Africa’s oldest building, with its formidable collection of Old Cape paintings. Take in the nearby Grand Parade, where Nelson Mandela addressed the nation on his release in 1990. Following that, we’ll take a historic walk through the Company Gardens, a fresh produce garden for ships and locals from the mid 17th Century, and now home to the SA Museum, Houses of Parliament, National Gallery and St George’s Cathedral. Stroll through the city to Greenmarket Square, where you can browse the bustling market stalls for beautiful and unique African mementos. From there, move on to the District Six Museum, which showcases the colorful life of this legendary area and the forced relocation of its residents during the Apartheid era. Depart the city (weather permitting) for Table Mountain’s Lower Cable-way Station, for a 5 minute revolving cable car ride to the top. 1,067 meters above sea level, Table Mountain affords bird’s-eye views of both the city and peninsular, as you explore its summit.

Day 3 : Tour the Cape of Good Hope

Visiting: Cape Town, South Africa

Today you'll be picked up at your hotel to begin a wonderful full day excursion to the Cape.

South Africa's southern peninsula has some of the most magnificent Atlantic coastlines in the world. Experience the stunning beauty of the region with a full day of activities, including a scenic coastal drive in the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, a visit to the charming fishing village of Hout Bay, and sighting the rare Jackass Penguins at Boulders Beach. If time allows, we will then travel to Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens for a short walking tour of these beautiful gardens.

Depart the city along the Atlantic seaboard, past the coastal suburbs of Sea Point, Bantry Bay and Clifton and stop for a photo op of Table Mountain’s towering Twelve Apostles. Drive past Bakoven and Llandudno, with their ghostly shipwrecks, and on to the fishing village of Hout Bay, where you board a boat to view the Cape Fur Seal colony on Duiker Island (optional extra, weather permitting).

Return to dry land and navigate the 114 curves of 600m high Chapman’s Peak Drive, one of the world’s most spectacular passes, past the Cape’s longest beach at Noordhoek and the hamlets of Kommetjie and Scarborough – with a chance of seeing Southern Right Whales just offshore from June to November! Explore the rocky coastline and uniquely Cape Fynbos vegetation, home to birds like African Black Oystercatchers and Cape Sugarbirds and very special fauna, such as Cape Mountain Zebra, Bontebok (both endemic) and the charismatic Cape Baboon, as we enter the Cape of Good Hope section of the Table Mountain National Park. Climb (or ride the world’s first environmentally friendly funicular as an optional extra) to Cape Point Lighthouse to capture the magical vistas of False Bay. A trip south wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the south westernmost point of Africa: breathtaking Cape Point.

After lunch (not included) at a coastal restaurant, visit Boulders Beach for a close-up encounter with a colony of African Penguins, and then head home through the naval village of Simonstown and over Boyes Drive, taking in views of the fishing harbor at Kalk Bay and the seaside havens of St James and Muizenberg. Visit Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens on the slopes of Table Mountain to round off the day.

If you have the time, you may want to consider adding a day in Cape Town, especially to tour the famous winelands area around Cape Town. Call us for details and prices.

The Cape Winelands tour takes you through the heart of the luminous wine country on the Western Cape. Gorgeous mountain vistas, spectacular vineyards and historic Cape Dutch homesteads are all part of the experience. Knowledgeable guides provide the perfect introduction to Cape Winelands' gourmet offerings and will lead wine tastings at several of the region's famous vineyards.
