Overview

Mapula Lodge has become synonymous with providing a true wilderness offering. Situated in the northern area of the Okavango Delta, just outside the Moremi Game Reserve, which in turn enables the lodge to offer a full spectrum of activities, all with a guide and tracker. Mapula lodge is a land camp and water camp with day and night drives (guide and tracker), bush walks, boating and mokoro excursions.

Being in a permanent water area, Mapula Lodge can offer year round water activities, which is especially important during January - May when water levels in the Okavango can become too low in most areas to allow the use a mokoro. Air charter access is via Mapula Lodge Airstrip (Xarakai) - a 30-minute flight from Maun.

Walking safaris are offered with experienced guides and tracker and night drives in search of nocturnal animals. In the early morning and late afternoons, game drives are conducted in comfortable, open safari vehicles, by experienced guide and tracker teams. The game experience is enhanced through off-road operating which is key to delivering quality sightings of predators that are widespread in this area.

The guest area, with its sweeping decks, overlooks the permanent lagoon where a resident pod of hippopotamus resides. Here you will find the comfortable lounge, dining area and a bar with one of the best views in the Okavango Delta. In addition, there is also a small library and swimming pool. Each of the 8 luxury chalets has a traditional design and the use of wood provides unique detail. The attention to detail and use of local craftsmanship in the construction of the chalets is particularly impressive and attractive. The units all boast a small lounge and a large bathroom with bathtub, twin sinks, an outside shower and large outside veranda offering fantastic views over the lagoon.
