Cape Town is a fascinating blend of natural beauty and chic cosmopolitan character. As South Africa's third largest city, Cape Town offers sights and tourist opportunities that showcase this exciting atmosphere, including outdoor adventures, historical tours, wine tastings, and wildlife viewings. There is no one way to describe this bustling city; bright colors dominate the facades of Victorian bathing chalets, stunning trails lead you through Table Mountain National Park, and history comes alive in Nelson Mandela?s prison on Robben Island. Come and experience life at the southernmost tip of Africa.

If you're interested in upgrading hotels, let us know. A popular 5-star upgrade is Table Bay however there are a number of truly elite hotels such as the 12 Apostles, the Ellerman House, and the One & Only also available for quotes.

We can tailor your Cape Town tour to your exact dates and schedule. We can arrange stays for as brief as two nights, or as long as you wish. While we generally recommend 3 nights & 4 days to see the best of Cape Town, if you can fit in another day, you'd naturally give yourself more time to explore this intriguing coastal city.

For example, with an extra day, you can enjoy a full day wine country tour or spend more time exploring Table Mountain. Table Mountain is one of the crown jewels of Cape Town and South Africa as a whole. This national park covers some 75% of the peninsula and serves as the backdrop and adventure playground of the city.

A popular 1/2 day trip is heading to the top of Table Mountain, an imposing fixture on the northeast horizon of the city. You can reach the summit of this 1086-meter mountain on foot via a well-worn trail or with a breathtaking cable car ride to the summit. Splendid views await, stretching from the city to the sea. Altogether, with over 300 hiking trails up and down the mountain, there is plenty to keep the active members of your party happy. The park recently opened the Hoerikwaggo Trails (Hoerikwaggo is the Khoisan name for Table Mountain, meaning "Mountain in the Sea"), which were the first trails to allow visitors to sleep on the mountain on the 80km hiking route from City Bowl to Cape Point. The park boasts impressive biodiversity and is easily one of the diverse metropolitan national parks in the world. Different areas of the park offer certain sights and activities: swim with the charming African penguins in the sheltered cove at Boulders, discover the hidden bays and light houses at Cape Point, or admire the flowering fynbos at the lush Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. Wildlife sightings in the park may include mountain zebra, baboons, otters, tortoises, lizards, or even southern right whales migrating to and from the Antarctic.

Note that the Table Mountain Cableway can be closed the last week of July and the first week of August.

Day 3: Tour the Cape of Good Hope

Today you'll be picked up at your hotel to begin a wonderful full day excursion to the Cape. South Africa's southern peninsula has some of the most magnificent Atlantic coastlines in the world. Experience the stunning beauty of the region with a full day of activities, including a scenic coastal drive in the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, a visit to the charming fishing village of Hout Bay, and sighting the rare Jackass Penguins at Boulders Beach.

If time allows, we will then travel to Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens for a short walking tour of these beautiful gardens. Depart the city along the Atlantic seaboard, past the coastal suburbs of Sea Point, Bantry Bay and Clifton and stop for a photo op of Table Mountain's towering Twelve Apostles. Drive past Bakoven and Llandudno, with their ghostly shipwrecks, and on to the fishing village of Hout Bay, where you board a boat to view the Cape Fur Seal colony on Duiker Island (optional extra, weather permitting).

Return to dry land and navigate the 114 curves of 600m high Chapman's Peak Drive, one of the world's most spectacular passes, past the Cape's longest beach at Noordhoek and the hamlets of Kommetjie and Scarborough - with a chance of seeing Southern Right Whales just offshore from June to November! Explore the rocky coastline and uniquely Cape Fynbos vegetation, home to birds like African Black Oystercatchers and Cape Sugarbirds and very special fauna, such as Cape Mountain Zebra, Bontebok (both endemic) and the charismatic Cape Baboon, as we enter the Cape of Good Hope section of the Table Mountain National Park.

Climb (or ride the world's first environmentally friendly funicular as an optional extra) to Cape Point Lighthouse to capture the magical vistas of False Bay. A trip south wouldn't be complete without a stop at the south westernmost point of Africa: breathtaking Cape Point.

After lunch (not included) at a coastal restaurant, visit Boulders Beach for a close-up encounter with a colony of African Penguins, and then head home through the naval village of Simonstown and over Boyes Drive, taking in views of the fishing harbor at Kalk Bay and the seaside havens of St James and Muizenberg.
