Dios River<\/strong>, take you to this wonderful lodge in the middle of the Amazon jungle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Upon arrival, all travelers are transferred from the airport to Inkaterra\u2019s <strong>Butterfly House<\/strong> \u2013a welcome and information center with internet access, cold drinks and an introduction to the amazing world of butterflies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Be prepared to <strong>wait<\/strong> for all travelers in your group to arrive, since there are several flights to Puerto Maldonado (from Lima and\/or Cusco). \u00a0Once everybody has arrived at the Butterfly House, you will be driven to the pier and take the boat to Hacienda Concepci\u00f3n.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>boat ride<\/strong> to Hacienda Concepci\u00f3n is only 25 minutes in a nice, clean and stable boat for approximately 30 people.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Upon arrival, you will be given a <strong>briefing<\/strong> on the excursions and facilities of the lodge, followed by a <strong>delicious buffet lunch<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Activities<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Please, note that <strong>excursions<\/strong> are almost back-to-back.\u00a0 The first excursion starts after lunch and there\u2019s another one before dinner. The next day you will have to be ready at 6am.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>If you are staying 4 days, ask for a special &#8220;<strong>beach day<\/strong>&#8220;. \u00a0You can have a boat to yourself, with a waiter, snacks, drinks, your guide and the boat driver. \u00a0Do this the afternoon of day 3. \u00a0You sail to a wonderful beach in the Madre de Dios River (15 minutes from the lodge) and swim in the river, sunbathe, have drinks, and then sail to a great sunset spot!\u00a0 It is $75 per person extra, drinks included.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Dining<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Happy hour<\/strong> is between 6pm and 7pm daily. Excursions before dinner start around 6.30pm, so you might have to skip that cocktail.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Their <strong>food is awesome<\/strong>! \u00a0You will be in a &#8220;full board&#8221; program: buffet breakfast, delicious lunch and \u00e0 la carte dinner with 2 options &#8211; always a vegetarian one. \u00a0Make sure you let us know your diet\/medical restrictions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Accommodations<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>There are <strong>8 rooms<\/strong> in the main lodge and <strong>16 Caba\u00f1as<\/strong> surrounding the lodge. \u00a0Triple rooms can be offered only in the Caba\u00f1as, but not the rooms. \u00a0There is plenty of space for an additional bed in the Caba\u00f1as &#8211; they have a little living room\/lounge area, with a nice sofa and a hammock next to a big window that makes you feel you are in the middle of the jungle\u2026and you are!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>There is <strong>no power<\/strong> from 3pm to 5:30pm and from 11pm to 4:30am. \u00a0During this time, fans won&#8217;t work.\u00a0 This is not a huge problem since you will be in an excursion between 3pm and 5.30pm and everybody is in bed by 10pm.\u00a0 During Peruvian winter (June, July, August), it gets quite cool at night, so you might even use the fleece blanket they provide.\u00a0 During rainy season (summer), it is hot day and night and rains pretty much 24\/7.\u00a0 Better to go in the winter&#8230;.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>There is very limited <strong>Internet<\/strong> and mobile access in the lodge. \u00a0These only work in some spots and will take a long time to connect. \u00a0<strong>Tip<\/strong>: The closer you are to the river, the better mobile connection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Packing<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>You will be provided <strong>flashlights<\/strong> and <strong>insect repellent<\/strong>. \u00a0We suggest bringing a headlamp too.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Rent <strong>binoculars<\/strong> or bring yours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Vaccinations<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>You won&#8217;t be asked for your <strong>vaccinations certificate<\/strong> upon arrival. \u00a0However, please follow this link to find out more about vaccinations for this trip:\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Travel Health\" href=\"http:\/\/www.adventureswithinreach.com\/faq\/health.html\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.<wbr \/>adventureswithinreach.com\/faq\/<wbr \/>health.html<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Andrea Tello, one of our South American travel specialists, spent 4 days in the Peruvian Amazon at Hacienda Concepci\u00f3n, one of Inkaterra\u2019s finest properties in the Amazon, near Puerto Maldonado. \u00a0These are a few interesting facts about this amazing experience!
