The 150-foot S/v Noorderlicht is a sea hardy, retrofitted two-masted schooner well suited for expedition cruising among the fjords and small islands of the Arctic with good open deck viewing areas even when under sail. The 20-passenger ‘Noorderlicht’ provides accommodation in small twin cabins. All cabins have upper and lower berths, a cupboard and wash basin with hot and cold water. Shared shower (4) and toilet (5) facilities are conveniently located. Uniquely, these expeditions are more hands-on than the others: travelers can share in the handling of sails and serve as night-watchmen. Every day there will be excursions on land, weather and ice permitting. The landings will take three to six hours per day. According to the weather, etc. the program can sometimes be adjusted. Ample time will be devoted to wildlife, vegetation, geography and history.
