2-Day River Rafting and Rainbow Mountain Tour
We have combined two great day tours into a package, with river rafting on the Urubamba River on the first day, then overnight at a river lodge, and the second day is hiking to Rainbow Mountain. This is one of our most popular tours!
The river rafting is in a group (small group in raft) and the hike to Rainbow Mountain is private. These may be booked separately as day trips.
Full Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco/Rafting/Cusipata
From Cusco, we will drive for about 1.5 hours to get to our private campsite Cusipata river camp in, near the Urubamba river (upper section).
Once we are ready, with all the gear distributed and passengers clothed in this safety equipment, we will drive for 15 min to the put in where our guide will give us a complete safety talk. After that we will start with the rafting, running exciting class III & IV rapids, like Mariposa Laberinto Sapito and Tren de Olas, spending about two hours in the water.
The take out will be at our campsite, where the sauna and hot showers will be waiting for us.
After a healthy lunch cooked in our adobe oven we will have the rest of the afternoon to enjoy and relax on the lodge – we can have an optional hike to the small town of Cusipata.

Day 2: Cusipata/Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain)/Cusco
With an early rise (6:00am) and after a delicious homemade breakfast we will jump on our private transportation for a one hour drive until we reach the start point of the hike to begin our ascent of the colored mountain (5,000 m.a.s.l.). During the trek, we will observe beautiful countryside scenes and, if we’re lucky, we’ll spot several South American camelids including llama and vicuña. After approximately two hours of trekking, we’ll arrive at the spectacular Vinicunca where you’ll be able to see the magnificent coloring of the mountain caused by eroded sedimentary rock. you’ll also be able to see the surrounding mountains and the imposing snow-capped Ausangate. After enjoying the views from Vinicunca, we’ll begin our descent to our waiting vehicle that will take us back to Cusco. (B/BL)
