Experience exhilarating Caribbean locations at secluded comfortable eco-lodges on this unforgettable journey to Costa Rica and Panama! This is the perfect trip to totally unplug and escape. We take you from the lush jungles of Bananito Sur to the beautiful beaches of Cahuita & Bocas del Toro. We'll raft Central America's #1 river, the Pacuare River, and enjoy the original waterfall rappelling tour in Costa Rica at the fantastic Selva Bananito Eco-Lodge, located on the edge of Central America's largest nature preserve. From there, you'll visit Cahuita National Park, one of Costa Rica's top wildlife parks. It is lush, on the ocean and full of wildlife, similar to Manuel Antonio, but without the crowds of Manuel Antonio. From there, we assist you across the border to Panama, and soon you are in the sublime realms of Bocas del Toro Islands. Here enjoy several days to relax and restore yourself before heading back to San Jose and home.

Important:

-- Flights from Bocas del Toro to San Jose may be available only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays. This flight arrives into Pavas (the domestic airport) in San Jose, Costa Rica typically around 9:00 a.m. We advise you book your international departure flight from San Jose 1 pm or later (or schedule a hotel night in San Jose and depart next day).

-- Departing on an international flight out of Panama City is also possible (any day).

Day 6: Early morning departure to the beautiful islands Bocas del Toro

Today an early morning private transfer will take you to Almirante in Panama, with assistance at the border, from here, you will board a boat to your lodge in Bastimentos Islands on the Bocas del Toro archipelago. Overnight in Bocas del Toro. Our standrad property (included) is Eclypse de Mar, however you can customize and stay in - for example - Al Natural Lodge (for about US$100-200/person extra) or the remarkable Tranquillo Bay Eco-Adventure Lodge (for approximately $1000/person extra).

Eclypse de Mar: This is an ideal property for couples. It's very romantic, with bungalows right over the water hosting 4 poster beds and billowing sheets as the warm sea winds course through open french doors facing the water. Besides unique accommodations, the property also offers wonderful excursions everyday and personalized service. It's situated over the water relatively close to Bocas Town and Bastimentos, so travelers who enjoy varied dining and more time in these Caribbean villages will also enjoy stays here!

Tranquilo Bay Eco-Adventure Lodge: This is one of my favorite eco-lodges in all of Central America for birders, lovers of sea adventures, families and people who simply and truly want to get away from it all. Tranquilo Bay is remote and quiet, with just 6 deluxe air-conditioned cabanas perched on a small hilltop, surrounded by pristine rainforest, mangroves, and sea. Right from the lodge you can go on fantastic guided nature walks (with excellent birding) plus enjoy snorkeling and sea kayaking in the lush mangrove forests and tranquil bays full of dynamic coral beds. The Lodge prides itself on it's broad selection of unique optional guided activities. For example, on a free day here, you can hike the lush cloud forest of Bosque Palo Seco high in the Talamanca range teeming with jungle wildlife, then return to the lodge and enjoy the moonrise over the Zapatilla Cayes. There are few places on Earth where this diversity is possible. Other activities include visits to the blissful Zapitillas Keys, sea kayaking trips further afield to idyllic beaches and cliffs, trips to the national park for wildlife viewing, and more at extra charge. The extra price to stay here includes all meals and beverages.

Al Natural: A magical place in complete harmony with nature. This is an eco-lodge that takes it's commitment to the environment very seriously. Private bungalows are stilt houses (built in a traditional Carib style) and are situated right on the beach. They provide occupants with uninterrupted views of the water and the lush flora that surrounds each unit. Similar to Tranquilo Bay, it's situated on the removed southeast corner of Bastimente Island, about 40 minutes by boat from Bocas Town.
