{"id":2582,"date":"2012-04-24T11:39:20","date_gmt":"2012-04-24T17:39:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/adventureswithinreach.com\/travel\/?page_id=2582"},"modified":"2012-05-13T15:40:39","modified_gmt":"2012-05-13T21:40:39","slug":"week-4","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/adventureswithinreach.com\/travel\/kilimanjaro-training\/week-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Week 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><strong><a title=\"Week 3\" href=\"http:\/\/adventureswithinreach.com\/travel\/kilimanjaro-training\/week-3\/\">\u00a0&lt;&lt; Week 3<\/a> | <a title=\"Kilimanjaro Training\" href=\"http:\/\/adventureswithinreach.com\/travel\/kilimanjaro-training\/\">Overview<\/a> | <a title=\"Week 5\" href=\"http:\/\/adventureswithinreach.com\/travel\/kilimanjaro-training\/week-5\/\">Week 5 &gt;&gt;<\/a><\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Goal for this week:<\/strong> Prepare for triathlon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>DAY 1 &#8212; Swimming<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A friend of my talked me into a &#8220;mini&#8221; triathlon in 7 weeks.\u00a0 Yikes!\u00a0 Swimming is my weakest sport (more like drowning), so I thought I should start right away.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Activity:<\/strong> Swimming<\/li>\n<li><strong>Time:<\/strong> 30 minutes<\/li>\n<li><strong>Distance:<\/strong> 14 x 25m laps<\/li>\n<li><strong>Notes:<\/strong> I usually start slow, but improve rather quickly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>DAY 3 &#8212; Bike the Poor Man Loop<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Continuing my &#8220;triathlon,&#8221; I thought I would do my favorite bike loop in town, which goes over Poor Man Rd.\u00a0 I dusted off my road bike, pumped up the tires, and off I went.\u00a0 About 1\/2 mile from the summit, my front tire blew.\u00a0 It was only then that I realized I did not have a repair kit of any kind on my bike \ud83d\ude41\u00a0 Then I discovered that there is no cell coverage in the mountains!\u00a0 I started the long walk down in my uncomfortable bike shoes until a woman took pity on my and gave me ride home.\u00a0 Talk about humiliating!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Activity:<\/strong> Road biking<\/li>\n<li><strong>Time:<\/strong> 1 hour<\/li>\n<li><strong>Distance:<\/strong> 5 miles<\/li>\n<li><strong>Notes:<\/strong> Take a patch kit next time!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>DAY 5 &#8212; Hike\/Run Mt. Sanitas<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Instead of doing my usual up-and-down on Mt.
