Falls<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>DAY 1 \u2013 Day at the V&amp;A Waterfront<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/adventureswithinreach.com\/southern-africa\/?t=South%20Africa\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"V&amp;A Waterfront, Cape Town, South Africa\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">V&amp;A Waterfront<\/p><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Aquarium<\/strong> &#8212; Highlights of the aquarium were the penguins and the big tank with sharks and huge rays.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Scratch Patch and Cave Golf<\/strong> &#8212; The kids loved both of these, but they were maybe pushing the upper age range.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Craft Market<\/strong> &#8212; Next to the Aquarium and cross the street from Scratch Patch.\u00a0 It lacks ambiance, but we managed to buy quite a lot!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sundowner at Den Anker Belgian Restaurant<\/strong> &#8212; Located on a quieter dock at the V&amp;A Waterfront with good Belgium beer, wine, and appetizers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dinner at Belthazar Restaurant &amp; Wine Bar<\/strong> at the V&amp;A Waterfront &#8212; A little more expensive, but we ate ostrich, springbok, impala, and wildebeest!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Overnight at Cape Royale Hotel<\/strong> &#8212; A great upscale option walking distance to 2 \u2013 Robben Island, Table Mountain, Double-Decker Bus<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a Island<\/p><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Robben Island<\/strong>:\u00a0 9am-1pm &#8212; They tell you to to get to the dock 30 minutes early.\u00a0 This isn&#8217;t so bad because there is a small museum there.\u00a0 However, even more importantly is to get on the boat early for top-level seating.<\/li>\n<li><a alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Cape Peninsula Coastline\" Coastline<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The tour lasted 9:30am-5:30pm with various scenic stops around the peninsula including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hout Bay (shopping)<\/li>\n<li>Cape Point (hike, funicular, lunch, beach)<\/li>\n<li>Boulders Beach (penguins)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We were back our hotel, Cape Royale, for an amazing sunset at the roof bar.<\/p>\n<p>Dinner was at <strong>El Burro<\/strong> just down the street from the Cape Royale, and was excellent with great atmosphere.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>DAY 4 \u2013 Hermanus<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Penguins at Stony Point\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8376\/8471225392_32c6b7757d_n.jpg?resize=320%2C201\" width=\"320\" height=\"201\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Penguins at Stony Point<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Drive to <strong>Hermanus<\/strong> via scenic route takes 3+ hours.\u00a0 We stopped at <strong>Stony Point<\/strong> to see the <strong>penguins<\/strong>, which was much better than Boulders Beach!<\/p>\n<p>We stayed at the <strong>Misty Waves Hotel<\/strong>, which is a couple of blocks out of town, but it is an easy walk, has great views of the whales, and a nice swimming pool.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Coastline of Hermanus<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Hermanus has a <strong>boardwalk<\/strong> through town, which is great for a nice walk or run.<\/p>\n<p>Hermanus also has a <strong>nice outdoor<\/strong> market for souvenirs.<\/p>\n<p>Dinner was at the <strong>Lemon Butta Restaurant<\/strong> right downtown for great seafood and views over the water.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>DAY 5 \u2013 Shark Cage Diving<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Shark Cage Diving in Gansbaai<\/p><\/div>\n<p>From Hermanus, the drive to <strong>Gansbaai<\/strong> is about 30 minutes (versus 2+ hours from Cape Town).\u00a0 On this day, they offered <strong>Shark Cage Diving<\/strong> at 7am, 10am, and 1pm.\u00a0 We did the 10am boat, so we were out and about 9am \u2013 2pm.<\/p>\n<p>For the Shark Cage Diving, they offer a breakfast and hot drinks beforehand.\u00a0 Then you walk across the street to the dock where you will load up on the boat.\u00a0 It&#8217;s 2-3 hours on the boat itself.\u00a0 They offer sandwiches, fruit, drinks, and hard candy.\u00a0 One woman out of 20 people was very seasick (I did not think it was rough at all).\u00a0 People get into the cage 5 at a time.\u00a0 Other people can go up top on the boat to watch the sharks swim around.\u00a0 After the boat trip, you go back to the office for a video and group photo.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight, we had dinner at <strong>Lizette\u2019s Restaurant<\/strong>, which was a cozy but trendy restaurant away from the water.\u00a0 It also has a nice garden for lunch.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>DAY 6 \u2013 Stellenbosch<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Room at the Spier Hotel\" Hotel<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The drive from Hermanus to Stellenbosch is about 1 hour (it&#8217;s a little bit farther from Cape Town).<\/p>\n<p>We stopped at the <strong>Cheetah Outreach<\/strong> in Somerset West.\u00a0 It was okay but not great.<\/p>\n<p>We stayed at the <strong>Spier Hotel<\/strong> in Stellenbosch.\u00a0 This is great place for groups and kids.\u00a0 There is a nice swimming pool, Eagle Encounters program, winery with wine tasting, and the Moyo Restaurant.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stark Conde Winery<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The adults spent the afternoon wine tasting at the Stark Conde Winery while the kids played in the large pool.\u00a0 The <strong>Stark Conde Winery<\/strong> is in an absolutely beautiful location with a restaurant.\u00a0 If there is room, ask to do the wine tasting on the island in the lake.\u00a0 Tastings were $4.<\/p>\n<p>Dinner was at <strong>Java Caf\u00e9<\/strong> downtown Stellenbosch with nice outdoor dining and very reasonable meals.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>DAY 7 \u2013 Stellenbosch<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Wine tasting at Villiers Winery\" Winery<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Our first stop was wine tasting at <strong>Villiers Winery<\/strong>.\u00a0 It has a lovely patio for tasting.\u00a0 They offered 4 tastes for free, but two hours and many sips later, they were still going through their options.<\/p>\n<p>The kids were dying to stop at the <strong>World of Butterflies<\/strong>.\u00a0 It was so good, all the adults went along.\u00a0 Yes, there were butterflies but also marmosets, blue druiks, tropical birds, turtles, and lizards.<\/p>\n<p>The adults were dying for one more wine tasting at the <strong>Amani Winery<\/strong>.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a nice small winery with lovely views and better wine than Villiers.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Local drumming at the Moyo Restaurant<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Back to the Spier Hotel, the kids enjoyed the <strong>Eagle Encounters<\/strong> where you can hold a number of amazing raptors.<\/p>\n<p>The evening was spent at the <strong>Moyo Restaurant<\/strong>, which has a set per-person price, but offers an amazing experience.\u00a0 We requested a table in a tree house, they painted our faces with white paint, local drummers played, and there was a huge buffet that included exotic meats like springbok and wildebeest.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>DAY 8 \u2013 Fly to Kruger for safari<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Comfortable tent at Honeyguide\" Honeyguide<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It was an easy 30 minute drive from Stellenbosch to the Cape Town Airport.\u00a0 There are non-stop flights from Cape Town to Hoedspruit, but there are a bit more expensive, so our flight made a stop in Johannesburg.\u00a0 Our driver met us at the airport, and it was a quick 45 minute drive to Honeyguide.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"One of many rhinos at Honeyguide\" Honeyguide<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Honeyguide<\/strong> is tented camp with large, comfortable tents that sleep 2-4 people.\u00a0 The bathrooms are large with open shower areas. The main building is open-air with a bar, dining area, sitting areas, and bonfire.<\/p>\n<p>After orientation and settling in, it was a warm enough that we all took a dip in the pool.\u00a0 Very refreshing!<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>The evening game drive was\u00a04-8pm with sundowner.\u00a0 The vehicles are 4WD with open sides but with a roof.\u00a0 We had a guide and tracker.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>DAY 9 \u2013 Safari at Honeyguide<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Giraffes at Honeyguide\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8480\/8225648394_dafe0ea590_n.jpg?resize=320%2C197\" width=\"320\" height=\"197\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Giraffes at Honeyguide<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We started our morning game drive at 6pm, enjoyed a coffee break about 7:30am, and were back for breakfast at 9am.<\/p>\n<p>After breakfast, the safari guide too the adults on a nice walking safari.<\/p>\n<p>We were back for lunch and a couple of hours by the pool.<\/p>\n<p>We had an evening game drive with sundowner and then back for dinner and bonfire.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>DAY 10 \u2013 Safari at Honeyguide<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8068\/8225656180_46d288e133_n.jpg?resize=320%2C213\" width=\"320\" height=\"213\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This day was very similar to yesterday, but the safari guide took the kids out for a walking safari.<\/p>\n<p>We also had a visit to the other Honeyguide camp &#8212; Mantobeni Camp.\u00a0 It\u00a0is an adult-only camp that is a little more sophisticated, but I sure liked our swimming pool!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>DAY 11 \u2013 Honeyguide to Mala Mala<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Cozy lounge area at Mala Mala\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8479\/8238842513_690799df43_n.jpg?resize=320%2C213\" width=\"320\" height=\"213\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cozy lounge area at Mala Mala<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Our last morning at Honeyguide was spent on a game drive with coffee break (5:30-8:30am).<\/p>\n<p>After breakfast, we drove to Mala Mala (3.5 hours).\u00a0 We had been in the car for so long, we just felt like relaxing at the pool overlooking the hippos and elephants in the river.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mala Mala<\/strong> is quite upscale. The rooms are 2-room suites, which can sleep 2-4 people.\u00a0 There are two bathrooms, and a patio overlooking the river.\u00a0 There is a large pool, fitness center, spa, media room, bar, dining area, lounge, and large deck.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Swimming pool with river and elephants\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8347\/8238843193_923227715a_n.jpg?resize=320%2C213\" width=\"320\" height=\"213\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Swimming pool with river and elephants<\/p><\/div>\n<p>What I love best about Mala Mala is the <strong>location<\/strong>.\u00a0 They have a huge parcel of land that is bordered by Kruger on one side and the Sabi Sands on the other side with a river running through it.\u00a0 The animals come from both sides to the river.\u00a0 They just have an amazing quantity and diversity of animals.<\/p>\n<p>Dinner was in their outside boma, which is nicely decorated, and the staff sang local songs.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>DAY 12 \u2013 Safari at Mala Mala<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Leopard at Mala Mala\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8059\/8232594176_c52d0123bc_n.jpg?resize=320%2C213\" width=\"320\" height=\"213\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Leopard at Mala Mala<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Morning starts with tea, coffee, and snacks on the deck.<\/p>\n<p>Each group heads out on their morning game drive (5:30-9am).<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Safari guide with elephants\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8059\/8231534409_431e24c9f8_n.jpg?resize=320%2C213\" width=\"320\" height=\"213\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Safari guide with elephants<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Breakfast is at lodge starting at 9:30am.<\/p>\n<p>Our group did a walking safari after breakfast.<\/p>\n<p>Lunch was served at the lodge at 1:30pm.<\/p>\n<p>The afternoon was at the pool and fitness center.<\/p>\n<p>Our evening game drive went from 4:00pm to 7:30pm with sundowner.<\/p>\n<p>Dinner was served inside at 8:30pm.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>DAY 13 \u2013 Johannesburg<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Nelson Mandela Square in Johannesburg\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8203\/8231741330_96ce97817e_n.jpg?resize=320%2C228\" width=\"320\" height=\"228\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nelson Mandela Square in Johannesburg<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I would recommend an early afternoon flight out of Nelspruit, but ours was early, so we just had time for our morning tea, coffee, and snacks.\u00a0 Our drive to Nelspruit was 2.5 hours, and we had snack boxes from Mala Mala.<\/p>\n<p>Our flight MPQ-JNB was 45 minutes.\u00a0 We drove to our hotel in Sandton (30 minutes), Garden Court Sandton, and then took a taxi to the Apartheid Museum.<\/p>\n<p>Dinner was at nearby Nelson Mandela Square.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>DAY 14 \u2013 Johannesburg<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Free day<br \/>\nTransfer to JNB (45 minutes)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Staff Members: Robin &amp;
