On Sunday is the famous market &#8212; Feriada San Telmo at Plaza Dorrego &#8212; and make sure to also go to the Mercado de San Telmo (inside).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sunday is the Feria de San Telmo Market in Plaza Dorrego<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thursday at 3:30pm is the March of the Mothers in Plaza de Mayo.&nbsp; <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Weekends are harder to get into hotels and restaurants, and tourist sites can be more crowded.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to a futbol\/soccer game in the stadium (typically on Sundays Mar-Dec).  Book the experience with a tour company &#8212; do not go on your own as it can be unsafe for tourists.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Evening\">2) Then plan your meals and evening entertainment plans.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Options for evening are (book in advance):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/adventureswithinreach.com\/travel\/2016\/12\/04\/top-5-buenos-aires-steakhouses\/\">Steakhouse<\/a> (book 3-6 months in advance for Don Julio and La Cabrera)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tango Show (with or without dinner and tango lessons)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Opera or ballet at the Colon Theater (Mar-Dec) &#8212; See schedule (only in Spanish): <a href=\"https:\/\/teatrocolon.org.ar\/es\/calendar\/month\">https:\/\/teatrocolon.org.ar\/es\/calendar\/month<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Great neighborhoods for dinner and nightlife:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Palermo (weekends can be noisy)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recoleta (many restaurants near the cemetery)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Puerto Madero (Women\u2019s Bridge, walk along the waterfront, museum on a frigate ship)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lunch options:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>San Telmo Market \u2013 lunch or casual dinner, fun shopping too<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Caminito area in La Boca \u2013 lunch or casual dinner, fun shopping too<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Steakhouses:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Don Julio (Palermo)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>La Cabrera (Palermo) \u2013 happy hour at 6:15pm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fervero (Recoleta)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rufina Steak Restaurant (Mio Hotel in Recoleta)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cabinas La Linas (Puerto Madera)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/adventureswithinreach.com\/travel\/2016\/12\/04\/top-5-buenos-aires-steakhouses\/\">Top 5 Buenos Aires Steakhouses &gt;&gt;<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Eat inside, not outside (temperature, people selling things, theft)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you do not have a reservation, ask the front desk at your hotel for suggestions.&nbsp; There are many excellent steakhouses in Buenos Aires!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"SeeAndDo\">3) Decide what you want to see and do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of these sites (and more!) can be seen on a city tour!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Top Sites to See:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recoleta Cemetery (craft booths on Sat\/Sun\/Holidays)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Municipal Cathedral (changing of the guard every 2 hours starting at 9am)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plaza de Mayo (Thursday at 3:30pm is Mother\u2019s Protest)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Colon Theater (1 hour tour, book in advance)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MALBA Museum (1 hour) or other museum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/adventureswithinreach.com\/travel\/2019\/05\/18\/top-5-museums-buenos-aires\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"9741\">Top 5 Museums To Visit In Buenos Aires<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other good sites:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>El Ateneo Bookstore (in an old theater \u2013 beautiful!) &#8211; Walking distance from Recoleta neighborhood<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>San Telmo Market (antique shops, produce, pastries, lots of cute dining spots)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Caminito area in La Boca \u2013 fun shopping (Sat\/Sun has most craft booths)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Women\u2019s Bridge (can also walk along the riverfront and visit the frigate museum)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Japanese Garden and Rose Garden (near each other)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Florida Avenue (pedestrian mall, street performers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Day trip to Colonia, Uruguay<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Money\">4) Plan your Money<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Exchanging Money:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do <strong>not <\/strong>exchange money before your trip, and do <strong>NOT <\/strong>use an ATM in Argentina.  The best exchange rate is found at the Western Union exchanges.  There are many around the city.  Alternatively, ask you guide or hotel front desk where to find the best exchange place in the area.  Exchanges are closed on Sundays.  Bring $100 bills for exchanges.  They must be in the new style with no tears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Budget:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$2-3\/day for drivers \u2013 USD easiest<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$10\/person\/day for guides \u2013 USD easiest<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$1\/person\/lunch $3\/person\/dinner for tips for meals (10% of meal price) \u2013 local currency easiest (You cannot add tip to a bill and charge it \u2013 tips must be left separately on the table.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Small purchases \u2013 ARS easiest<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I just have some USD and ARS in my pocket at all times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Bring USD cash in 1\u2019s, 5\u2019s, 10\u2019s, and 20\u2019s for tipping. You can spend either USD or ARS, but you may want to use local currency if you need change. Bring $100 bills for exchanging.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Converter\">5) Converter\/Adapter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Type &#8220;I&#8221; \u2013 like Australia.
