Sarah and her  husband <strong>Ted<\/strong> are currently traveling around the world in search of  adventure and,   along the way, sampling some of AWR\u2019s great trips and  looking\u00a0 for new   destinations. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>My husband and I were quite excited to be going on safari in Tanzania and though we knew <a title=\"The &quot;Big Five&quot;\" href=\"http:\/\/adventureswithinreach.com\/tanzania\/safari\/big5.html\">big animals<\/a> help to define the safari experience, we were still curious about what to expect.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Elephants\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5019\/5526329421_298286093c_m.jpg?resize=240%2C180\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" \/>Imagine our amazement upon entering <a title=\"Tarangire National Park\" href=\"http:\/\/adventureswithinreach.com\/tanzania\/safari\/tarangire.html\">Tarangire National Park<\/a> and realizing that we could see an elephant in every direction we looked; there were dozens of elephants surrounding us.\u00a0 Elephants drinking in the river.\u00a0 Elephants in large groups under a tree.\u00a0 Elephants mud-wallowing to cool off.\u00a0 Momma elephants and their babies.\u00a0 Elephants along the side of the road looking at us looking at them.\u00a0 It was an incredible day filled with dozens of other fun sightings as well from warthogs and giraffe to lions and baboons!<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Lion\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5139\/5526330973_2f5057a1e1_m.jpg?resize=180%2C240\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"240\" \/>Two days later, after sleeping in a mobile camp on the edge of the <a title=\"Serengeti\" href=\"http:\/\/adventureswithinreach.com\/tanzania\/safari\/serengeti.html\">Seregeti National Park<\/a> and the <a title=\"Ngorongoro\" href=\"http:\/\/adventureswithinreach.com\/tanzania\/safari\/crater.html\">Ngorongoro Conservation Area<\/a>, our guide got us up early for a morning game drive.\u00a0 Within 20 minutes of setting off from our unfenced camp, we came upon a female lion in the tall grass with three baby cubs.\u00a0 The cubs were hilarious to watch as they wrestled with each other and lovingly pawed at their mother as she cleaned herself up after a kill.\u00a0 They were so much fun to look at that we could barely tear ourselves away.\u00a0 When they were done showing off for our cameras, they effortlessly disappeared back into the grasses from which they came.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Wildebeest\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5179\/5526330009_ea9dc28a43_m.jpg?resize=240%2C180\" alt=\"Wildebeest\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" \/>On another day in the Serengeti we had the opportunity to eat our lunch while overlooking a herd of thousands of wildebeest and zebras.\u00a0 We were fortunate to be visiting during their <a title=\"Serengeti Migration\" href=\"http:\/\/adventureswithinreach.com\/tanzania\/safari\/migration.html\">migration through the Serengeti<\/a> and nothing can prepare you for seeing, hearing, smelling and feeling the movement of so many animals in such a small area.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Safari Lodge\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5218\/5526331149_a1543b7bee_m.jpg?resize=240%2C180\" alt=\"Safari Lodge\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" \/>We were continuously blown away by the animal encounters in these parks, not to mention the African landscapes, our well-informed guide and the <a title=\"Lodges and Tented Camps\" href=\"http:\/\/adventureswithinreach.com\/tanzania\/safari\/lodges_midrange.html\">unique and varied safari lodges <\/a>where we got spoiled each night.\u00a0 Though we didn&#8217;t know what to expect as we set off on safari we quickly learned that the country&#8217;s unfenced National Parks and Conservation Areas are packed full of millions of animals who are living relatively undisturbed in the same environments that they have inhabited for thousands of years.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Visiting Tanzania\" href=\"http:\/\/adventureswithinreach.com\/tanzania\/\">Tanzania<\/a> has a good thing going.
