It is my way of giv\u00ading back just a\u00a0lit\u00adtle bit to the peo\u00adple and places that have shaped my life,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a02000\u00a0the World Edu\u00adca\u00adtion Forum in Dakar com\u00admit\u00adted\u00a0164\u00a0nations to achiev\u00ading free uni\u00adver\u00adsal basic edu\u00adca\u00adtion by\u00a02015. While a\u00a0tremen\u00addous amount has been done there is still a\u00a0lot to do. Two bil\u00adlion chil\u00addren,\u00a085\u00a0per\u00adcent of the world\u2019s total, live in the devel\u00adop\u00ading world. Their futures and those of their chil\u00addren depend on whether they go to school and how much they learn.\u00a0UNESCO\u00a0reports that\u00a0100\u00a0mil\u00adlion chil\u00addren of pri\u00admary school age (15\u00a0per\u00adcent of the world\u00adwide total) are not in school. Sub-\u200bSaharan Africa now accounts for half of the world\u2019s out-\u200bof-\u200bschool children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDur\u00ading my trav\u00adels, I\u00a0met some very spe\u00adcial peo\u00adple who saw a\u00a0need, addressed a\u00a0prob\u00adlem and were deter\u00admined to make a\u00a0dif\u00adfer\u00adence in the lives of chil\u00addren who live below the radar of gov\u00adern\u00adments and inter\u00adna\u00adtional aid orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtions,\u201d said Noyes. Many of these hero\u2019s are Amer\u00adi\u00adcan trav\u00adel\u00aders who part\u00adnered with a\u00a0local indi\u00advid\u00adual or com\u00admu\u00adnity to build a\u00a0school or library, hire a\u00a0teacher, help pay for books, sup\u00adplies and uni\u00adforms, or cover the tuition for a\u00a0child in need. With tar\u00adgeted dona\u00adtions to pro\u00adgrams that have a\u00a0proven record of suc\u00adcess, we can do some won\u00adder\u00adful things in local com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adties that will cre\u00adate a\u00a0rip\u00adple effect and touch the lives of thousands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Planned with Col\u00adorado based adven\u00adture travel tour oper\u00ada\u00adtor Adven\u00adtures Within Reach, the trek will fol\u00adlow the <a href=\"http:\/\/adventureswithinreach.com\/tanzania\/kilimanjaro\/overview.php?trip=6_day__Machame_Route\" target=\"_blank\">Machame Route<\/a> with\u00a03-\u200bnights in Moshi. This trek will be the first of what Noyes says will be an annual fundrais\u00ading event that will make a\u00a0dif\u00adfer\u00adence in the lives of chil\u00addren and allow trekkers to share one of the great expe\u00adri\u00adences in the\u00a0world.<\/p>\n<p>A grad\u00adu\u00adate of\u00a0RIT\u00a0and Har\u00advard Uni\u00adver\u00adsity, David Noyes has received\u00a012 North Amer\u00adi\u00adcan Travel Jour\u00adnal\u00adist Asso\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtion (NATJA) awards for his pho\u00adtog\u00adra\u00adphy and travel writ\u00ading includ\u00ading the Grand Prize for Pho\u00adtog\u00adra\u00adphy in both\u00a02010\u00a0and\u00a02011. He was also awarded a\u00a0pres\u00adti\u00adgious\u00a02010\u00a0Low\u00adell Thomas Award for his arti\u00adcle \u201cThe Sacred City of Shiva\u201d about Varanasi, India.
