Sun Valley, ID, May 8, 2015:<\/b> \u00a0\u00a0Christopher Della Rocco, will be forgoing the traditional holiday season to join a trek that will summit Mt. Kilimanjaro on New Year\u2019s Day. \u00a0On January 1, 2016, Rocco plans to stand on the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,340 ft.), which is the tallest mountain in Africa, and the highest freestanding mountain in the world. \u00a0Rocco will be trekking up to the summit using the Machame Route<\/a> with adventure travel outfitter Adventures within Reach.<\/p>\n

Rocco will be climbing to support the Tim Tebow Foundation, and its mission to bring Faith, Hope, and Love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need (http:\/\/www.timtebowfoundation.org\/<\/a>).\u00a0 Rocco is a bartender at Murray Bros. Caddyshack and a real estate agent with Davidson Realty, both located in St. Augustine, FL. \u00a0Although Rocco had been thinking about climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro<\/a> for several years, he finally decided to make the move this year. \u00a0As Rocco told AWR, \u201cI am a father to two great children, Casandra and Blake,\u201d and \u201c[a]s parents we’re always telling our kids that they can do anything if they put their minds to it. Sometimes you have to get off the couch and show them.\u201d\u00a0 Rocco hopes to raise $5,000 for the Tim Tebow Foundation (http:\/\/www.classy.org\/roccokilimanjaro<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The Machame Route, also known as the Whiskey Route, is the most popular route on the mountain. The trek is not a technical climb, but summit day is long, strenuous, and at an incredibly high elevation.\u00a0 Nonetheless, “Kilimanjaro is our most popular trek,” says Robin Paschall, owner of Adventures Within Reach. \u00a0“Of the famous ‘Seven Summits,’ this is the easiest to get to and to climb. \u00a0It requires no technical climbing experience, and a moderately fit person can summit the mountain with training and perseverance. \u00a0Some of our clients, like Rocco, devote their once-in-a-lifetime experience climbing Mt.
