Request trip information

This customizable luxury boutique lodge adventure is particularly unique among our Costa Rica portfolio in that it starts and ends in Liberia International Airport (LIR), situated in the northwestern corner of the country. All trips are private, so while you can request a trip to start and end in San Jose, that would require longer drives and internal flights. Arriving and departing via Liberia will save you time and money on an itinerary like this.

You can start the trip any day of the year. While the dry season in Guanacaste province is typically from November through early May, travel in the rainy season is still a largely very pleasant experience since rains are typically limited to an afternoon thunderstorm or two then lighter rain at night while you sleep. Mornings are often sunny with fresh air following the gentler night rains.

The trip can be customized in several ways. We can help with quotes for whatever option you would like. One way is to add nights at one or both properties. Another option is to add a third destination such as the Osa Peninsula, Arenal Volcano or Montverde cloud forest. A third way is you could consider alternative boutique properties and build your own luxury Costa Rica tour. Among the finest luxury boutique properties in Costa Rica are these:

Papagayo (Guanacaste):

  • Andaz Papagayo
  • Mangroove
  • Secrets Papagayo

Tamarindo:

  • Hotel Capitan Suizo

Manuel Antonio:

  • Arenas del Mar
  • Parador Hotel
  • Gaia Hotel

Manzanillo (Caribbean):

  • Almendros y Corales

Puerto Viejo (Caribbean):

  • Le Cameleon

Osa Peninsula:

  • Lapa Rios Eco-Lodge
  • Bosque del Cabo Nature Lodge

Enjoy another day in Nosara!

Sea Turtles at Ostional

Nearby Ostional beach (just north of Nosara) is one of Costa Rica's premier spots to witness sea turtle nesting. While subject to nature's whims, so by no means guaranteed even in the best months, to see this spectacle really is one of nature's biggest thrills. Tours happen at night. Here we see the Pacific Olive Ridley turtles, who have been known to arrive on beaches en-masse, adding to the drama. The season here is generally between August and November. For the best luck, we'd recommend that you time your trip around the new moon, either a few days before or after. The key is darkness. Sea turtles seem to appreciate the cover (and protection) of dark when arriving on the beach.

Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner
Mid-Range Accommodations: Lagarta Lodge, Jungle Suite

Day 7: Transfer to Liberia Airport, depart Costa Rica (or extend your trip) (B)

wp-content/uploads/itineraries/Costa-Rica/lagarta-lodge-beach-1.jpg

Today, at the right time, private transfer to the Liberia International Airport (approximately 2.5 hours away). Here, connect with your international flight and return home. Alternatively, add days in Costa Rica - we can help with suggestions and a custom quote on request.
