Ecuador Visa
The information above is for informational purposes only. All travelers should check to see if entry requirements and fees have changed.
Getting a Visa
If you come to Ecuador as a tourist or on a business trip, you do not need a visa for a stay up to 90 days in a 12 month-period (chronological year), unless you are a citizen (passport holder) from one of the following countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, or Somalia.
As of September 2017, all tourists entering Ecuador must show proof of “travel health insurance” (doctor, accident, and death) valid during their stay in Ecuador. Without proof of such insurance, travelers may be required to purchase insurance upon entry to Ecuador.
Entry Requirements
- Your passport must be valid 6 months beyond intended stay.
- You must have tickets and documents for return or onward travel.
- We recommend at least 2 blank pages in your passport per country visited.
Yellow Fever Requirement:
As of May 12, 2025, a yellow fever certificate is required to enter Ecuador for:
- Citizens and residents of Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil OR
- Travelers of any nationality who have spent more than 10 days in any of these four countries directly prior to their arrival in Ecuador
You will be asked to present your vaccination certificate when boarding your flight, bus, or boat to Ecuador. Authorities may also request it again at the point of entry.
To be valid, the vaccine must have been administered at least 10 days prior to your arrival in Ecuador.
It is worth noting that the Ecuadorian government accepts that the Yellow Fever vaccine is effective for life with a single dose. Therefore certificates issued in previous years will still be accepted for control purposes.
EXEMPTIONS: The requirement does not apply to individuals over 60 years of age.
