3-Day Lake Titicaca and the Floating Isles
In southern Peru, you will find the world's highest inland body of water: Lake Titicaca. Many people arrive by bus from Arequipa, the Colca Canyon, or Cusco, but a flight to Juliaca (Puno's airport) from Lima, Arequipa or Cusco is also possible.
A popular itinerary starts with the First Class Bus from Cusco, which is a full day of driving with stops and guided tours of ruins and museums...and an Andean lunch buffet!
The city of Puno has many interesting sights, although you won't want to miss a boat ride out to the island of Taquile, the Uros floating isles and the Chucuito Peninsula. Return to Puno for the hotel overnight there.
An overnight on the peninsula at a family lodge makes this trip a true cultural experience! Inquire for special pricing.
We recommend a 3-day/2-night itinerary to get to Puno (day one) and to have the full day boat tour and a cultural overnight experience at a family lodge (day two), returning to Puno on day three. Prices do not include the bus to/from Puno.

Day 1: 3-DAY LAKE TITICACA & FLOATING ISLES / Flight or bus to Puno

You may arrive Puno on the tourist bus, late in the afternoon. If you fly in to Juliaca, we can provide a transfer (small added cost). Pick up at the bus station, welcome and transfer to your hotel in Puno. Overnight in Puno.

Day 2: Boat tour of Lake Titicaca: Taquile Isles and the Uros Floating Isles; overnight at family lodge (BLD) or return to Puno and overnight (BL)

Full-day boat tour of Lake Titicaca (group boat, private guide). En route, we will see and experience the Titicaca National Reserve, a wetland area formed by the lake as the rainy season increases its level. The island of Taquile, in the middle of Lake Titicaca, is a paradise of peace and beauty. Dedicated to agriculture and weaving, the isolation has allowed its inhabitants to maintain their traditions almost intact. After a walking tour of Taquile Isle and lunch at a local community restaurant, we continue on to the Uros Isles, where we will tour and meet the families living on these floating isles! This is a unique cultural experience!
If staying overnight at a family lodge, we then go to Chucuito Peninsula, where the communities have also retained their cultural heritage. Overnight at a family lodge, OR return to Puno, and overnight at your hotel.
The overnight at a family lodge on the lake has an added cost for the family (dinner and overnight). You may also want to bring a small gift for the family. This is a great cultural experience. If staying overnight at a family lodge, you will return to Puno the next afternoon. You may depart that evening.

Day 3: Return to Puno, if overnight at family lodge; or free morning; depart afternoon or evening (B)

Free morning and transfer to airport or bus station for your departure.
If you stayed overnight at a family lodge, you will return to Puno this afternoon. We will board boat for your return to Puno early afternoon. Afternoon transfer to airport for flight departure (optional tour of Sillustani ruins en route). Schedule your departure flight after 17:00 p.m.! If taking the tourist bus to Cusco, you will need to stay another night in Puno and take the bus early in the morning.
