4-Day Gorilla Express out of Kigali
Visit the mountain gorillas in Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest by crossing over from Rwanda. The gorilla trek at Bwindi is more challenging than in Rwanda. Therefore, we recommend good physical condition.
NOTE: You need 2 visas for Rwanda and 1 for Uganda.
Starting June 1, 2019, Air Kenya will offer service between Mara and Kisumu airports in the Maasi Mara and Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport, connecting with Aerolink’s early afternoon flights to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, and Kidepo Valley National Park.
Full Itinerary
Day 1: 4-DAY GORILLA TREKKING / Arrive Kigali Airport (LD)
Arrive Kigali Airport, transfer to hotel.

Day 2: Morning Kigali tour, afternoon transfer to Kisoro/Uganda (BLD)
Visit the genocide Memorial in Kigali before transferring to Uganda.
Genocide Memorials: In Rwanda you will find all over the country Memorials to remember the genocide of 1994. The most important Genocide Memorials are those of Kigali (Gisozi) and Murambi (Gikongoro) where the history of the genocide is explained. A visit to the genocide memorial is for most visitors an emotional event.
Transfer to Musanze (Ruhengeri) (2 hour drive). The Rwanda border post (Cyanika) is only 40 minutes from Musanze (Ruhengeri). Border crossing will take 20 minutes. After the border crossing you are already in Kisoro region. Depending on the location of your lodge, you will drive another hour or so.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi National Park (BLD)
After breakfast, depart from your lodge at 6:30am. Depending on your Gorilla permit your driver-guide will bring to the Rushaga or Nkuringo area. The reporting time at Nkuringo or Rushaga headquarters is at 8:00am. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a natural world heritage site. Hikers will love it!
A ranger will brief you on how to behave with the gorillas. The average trekking time is 4 to 5 hours. For conservation purposes, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour.
Gorilla trekking is unpredictable. It is difficult to foresee how many hours you will hike. The gorilla excursion can take from 2 up to 8 hours. A good physical condition is recommended.
After the trekking, travel to your lodge for a late lunch. You may visit the nearby Lake Mutanda, visit the Batwa community, hiking, or just relaxing.
Bwindi Impenetrable NP has a unique rich and varied ecosystem and has lowland rainforest and afromontane forest. It's considered as one of the most unique and important forests of Africa. UNESCO declared it as a Natural World Heritage site for Humanity for his many values and because it is vital to the survival of many endangered species.
