In this region, we can still find small fishing villages where the electricity has not yet arrived and where they still use traditional fishing techniques. The Ecological Reserve Joatinga is one place we'll where we will learn from several fishing communities their lifestyle and customs. At the end, we will also visit the beautiful colonial town of Paraty and its romantic and cozy atmosphere.
Full Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Rio de Janeiro and Transfer to Paraty
Airport arrival at Rio de Janeiro and private transfer to the colonial town of Paraty, where all the treasures sent by the Portuguese to Europe arrived from Minas Gerais via Estrada Real. Arrival to Paraty where we'll walk around the historic downtown passing across its main churches and colonial houses. Here we can discover the important past of this town to Brazil's history. In the evening we can stroll around Paraty's streets and enjoy one of its restaurants with live music. Accommodation.

Day 2: Paraty Ponta Negra (BLD)
After breakfast we meet our guide whovwill accompany us for the next days. We take a local bus towards the town where we start our trek, passing through a part of Atlantic rainforest. After 4h of moderate trekking, we arrive to Ponta Negra beach. We will then understand the isolated conditions of these fishing communities, but also their happiness and the simplicity of their lifestyle. Accommodation.

Day 3: Ponta Negra (BLSD)
After breakfast we take a moderate/difficult rainforest hike that will take us to Saco Bravo natural waterfall. The 15 meter fall makes a swimming pool over viewing the ocean, a natural spectacle. In the afternoon, we will have free time to interact with locals and learn about their culture and customs. Accommodation.

Day 4: Praia de Ponta Negra Pouso da Cajaiba (BSD)
This is the longest trekking day, with moderate/difficult sections for a total of 6h. We will trek through forests and deserted beaches that make up a special scenery with the mountains encountering the sea. In the evening, we reach Pouso da Cajaiba, our final destination where we'll stay in seashore houses. Accommodation.

Day 5: Pouso da Cajaiba Paraty (BS)
During this fourth trekking journey, after breakfast, we will trek for 6h along moderate/difficult parts of Atlantic Rainforest between rivers and forest towards the Saco de Mamangua, known to be the only tropical fiord in the world. From there, we continue by canoe to Paraty Mirim, where our public transport bus will take us back to Paraty. Accommodation.

Day 6: Departure (B)
We leave in private transfer to the airport of Rio de Janeiro where you catch your flight to your next destination or home.
