Nagarkot, located 20 miles east of Kathmandu, is a very popular tourist destination due to the amazing views of the Himalayan mountains. The top of Nagarkot commands amazing views in all directions. Encompassing more that 200 miles of snowcapped peaks, from Annapurna in the west to Everest and beyond in the east, sunrises and sunsets create a spectacular light show on the mountains.

Day 1: 2-DAY NAGARKOT TOUR / Kathmandu to Nagarkot (B)
Drive 1.5 hours from Kathmandu to Nagarkot (7000 feet), and while en-route, visit Bhaktapur.
NAGARKOT
Nagarkot, located 32 kilometers east of Kathmandu, is one of the most scenic spots in Bhaktapur district and is renowned for its spectacular sunrise view of the Himalaya when the weather is clear. Visitors often travel to Nagarkot from Kathmandu to spend the night so that they can be there for the breathtaking sunrise. Nagarkot has become famous as one of the best spots to view Mount Everest as well as other snow-topped peaks of the Himalayan range of eastern Nepal. It also offers an excellent view of the Indrawati river valley to the east. With an elevation of 2,195 meters, Nagarkot also offers a panoramic view of the Valley and is described by visitors as a place whose beauty endures year round.
BHAKTAPUR
Bhaktapur, a history-soaked medieval town, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Founded in the 9th century and shaped like a conch shell, the city boasts an array of temples overlooked by the Palace with its fifty-five windows built by King Bhupatindra Malla. It is the best preserved of the three original cities of Kathmandu Valley, the other two being Kathmandu and Patan.

Day 2: Drive or trek to Changu Nayan then return to Kathmandu (B)
Travel to Changu Narayan by either driving for 45 minutes or a 3 hour trek. Visit Bhaktapur again if you didn't see enough of it on Day 1, then drive back to Kathmandu.
CHANGU NARAYAN
Changu Narayan - Situated at the end of the long road which runs well into the valley, it is said to have been built in 323AD by King Hari Dutta Varma. The temple is richly decorated with sculptures and carvings. It is said to be the oldest temple in the valley.
