Trekking in the Alps is one of our favorite summer hiking holidays. From June through September you can hike the Mont Blanc region with experienced local guides at a reasonable price.
The Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) is perhaps the most popular trek in Europe. While the entire 180 mile circuit typically takes 10 days, we recommend a shorter trip with 6 days of hiking. The shorter trip has several advantages: you still make a complete circuit, we offer weekly departures from June through September, and you can explore other hikes near Chamonix before and after your trek. The TMB is completed in 6 days with the help of car transfers along some of the sections.
Here are some of the advantages of this trek:
- Expert local trekking guides
- All meals are included during the trek
- A bag follows you around the mountain, so you hike with a light day pack
- Flexible arrival and departure – you just need to arrive the day before the hiking begins
If you have more time in Chamonix we recommend arranging a or two day with a private trekking guide before your trek. A day with a private guide will allow you to trek to areas off the main circuit and to have a personalized interaction with a guide. Such days are the perfect opportunity to climb a peak such as the Buet or to learn more about the area’s history, flora and fauna.
You can also try a glacier trek, rock climbing, or white water rafting! Opting for a shorter Tour du Mont Blanc trek will allow you to spend more time exploring other treasures of this amazing region. You might also want to explore further afield in the stunning Aravis, a gorgeous area dominated by limestone cliffs and only about 1 hour from Chamonix by car.
