This past July, Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) released a communique outlining a range of new park fees that will take effect starting on July 1, 2013. The increases affect a wide-range of segments within Tanzania’s tourism industry including conservation fees, tour operator vehicles, air transfers, and walking and camping permits. For anyone interested, the changes are highlighted in this TANAPA PDF document:
What the Tanzania park fee increases mean for our travelers at Adventures Within Reach depends on the nature of your trip. For Kilimanjaro treks, 2-person private trek prices will increase by just $50 per person on the 6-day Machame route; those trekkers on an 8-day Lemosho trek will be facing a larger price increase of $150 per person on a private 2-person trek. Kilimanjaro hikers looking to climb the mountain via the Lemosho route in 2013 will benefit if they consider moving plans up to before July 1. Travelers with flexibility are encouraged to trek by June to avoid these price increases.
Similarly, safari rates will go up slightly beginning on July 1, 2013 . For example, our private 5-day northern Tanzania safari rates will increase by $75 per person, while the 5-day scheduled group safari will rise by $60 per person. Value-minded travelers may consider this significant enough to consider booking their safari for dates before July 1.
Travelers considering our great value 5-day group safari will save money if they reserve a Tanzania safari by September 30, 2012. If you make your deposit before October for any of our 2013 scheduled 5-day safaris, we will honor the 2012 rate. It is an exceptional value at only $1495 per person for a small group safari. The safari includes 3 nights in wonderful mid-range properties like the fantastic Halisi Tented Camp.
