Day 1 : Drive to Longonot, Hike to Mount Longonot Crater, Drive to Lake Naivasha

Visiting: Nairobi, Mount Longonot

You will be picked up from your hotel in Nairobi early morning. The drive to Longonot take 1.5 hours and from the main highway you can unload the bicycles and test ride to Logonot park gate, although the road is extremely dusty.

After registering with the warden, take a hike up the Crater, the hike will take about 4 to 5 hours and everyone will have their picnic lunch box with them. After the day hike, we will drive to Lake Naivasha area for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 : Lake Naivasha: Biking at Hell's Gate, Boat ride and nature walk at Crescent Island

Visiting: Lake Naivasha

After an early breakfast, take your bicycles and with your adventure guide cycle to Hell's Gate National Park. The cycling will be slow enough so that you will be able to see the animals. Alternatively, you can do a hike down into the Njorowa Gorge.

The Park is a haven for ornithologists; the cliffs of Hell's Gate are breeding ground for Vultures, Verreaux's eagles, Augur buzzard and thousand of swifts, plenty of wildlife like elands, buffaloes, giraffes and Zebras can be seen at a distance.

Lunch can be a picnic in the park, at a local restaurant, or at the lodge.

In the late afternoon from 4:00pm, you will take a boat ride to Crescent Island for a nature walk. The boat ride gives you a chance to see hippos and water birds while the nature walk will allow you to learn more on Lake Naivasha and nature within. Those who wish not to go on nature walk can go on cycling westwards of the shore of the lake for a panoramic view of the area.

Day 3 : Biking at Lake Bogoria

Visiting: Lake Naivasha, Lake Bogoria

After a relaxing morning at the lodge with breakfast, load your bicycles onto the vehicle and drive 4 hours to Lake Bogoria with a stop over in Nakuru town to buy your picnic lunch.

On the way (20km before Lake Bogoria Hotel), you will unload the bicycles and cycle down the valley for a scenic view of the area where you will be able to meet with the local community and make some friends or buy a fruit from the road side markets. The weather can be quite warm in this area, so you should be well hydrated and should have a hat, bandana, sunglasses, and sun lotion. The cycling is a gentle downhill to the lodge.

After a refreshing drink at the lodge, you will ride into the Lake Bogoria Game Reserve, which is a shallow soda lake with beautiful scenery and also home to a sizable number of flamingos and other species of birds. The highlight, however, is the boiling hot springs and geyser, which also contributes to the beauty of the lake.

Day 4 : Biking in Kerio Valley

Visiting: Lake Bogoria, Kerio Valley

Early morning wake-up call and depart from the hotel by sunrise for a 1-hour drive. Start cycling towards Karbernet Town and down the Kerio Valley. This cycling is on a good paved road with very little traffic. This is the undisputed most scenic area in Kenya and a true picture of Africa!

Those who are tough will cycle as much as they can with plenty of stopovers to sip water and have a snack at different amazing views of the area. The distance to be covered is over 60mi/100km up and down hills. Here you can cycle as little or as much as you wish as the vehicle will be behind for anyone to load the bicycle and get a lift. The weather can be quite hot and sunny as we approach the midday, so we try leave Lake Bogoria as early as we can.

Arrive at Kerio Valley View Hotel in time for lunch and the afternoon will be spent with a good rest. You are free to hike, jog, or bicycle in the evening with your local guide.

Day 5 : Kerio Valley: Choice of activities (jog with Marathoners, bicycle, local community)

Visiting: Kerio Valley

This will be a free spirit day for all! Plenty of activities can be done from here:

  • Morning jog with well-renown world champion marathoners as this area is a high altitude training grounds of Kenya and other international marathon teams
  • Morning easy bicycle in the area
  • Bicycle challenge to Kapsowar area for the scenic view of Kerio Valley
  • Meet the local community for culture experience
  • Relax at the hotel and marvel at the scenery

This is the most popular paragliding area in Kenya, and it is amazing to watch them right from the hotel.

Day 6 : Drive to Lake Nakuru, afternoon walk/bicycle at Kenana Farm

Visiting: Lake Nakuru

A free morning for one to jog or bicycle and depart after a late breakfast for a 3 hour drive to Lake Nakuru area. After a late lunch at Kembu Cottages on Kenana Farm, spend the afternoon relaxing, or go on nature walk within the farm, or cycling around the area with your guide.

Day 7 : Morning Lake Nakuru game drive, afternoon drive to Nairobi (or continue your safari to the Masai Mara)

Visiting: Lake Nakuru, Nairobi

After an early breakfast, drive to Lake Nakuru National Park and spend the full morning on game drive. Lake Nakuru is a shallow strongly alkaline lake set in a picturesque landscape of surrounding woodland and grassland and is home to thousands of flamingos, buffalo, lions, zebra, giraffe just to mention a few. The park is the breeding grounds for the endangered black and white rhino. A

fter a picnic lunch, drive to Nairobi and arrive in the late afternoon by 5:00pm. Or, you can extend your trip to the Masai Mara.
