“We saw lions chasing giraffes, gazelles, zebras, elephants, and wildebeests, but they all got away. At night, we heard lions and hyenas but haven’t seen the latter yet. Then we watched the lions for about an hour play with their cubs. It really is Lion King here including pumba and the rest of the cast! Seriously. Simba means lion. Pumba is a warthog. Also there is a nation of wildebeests, over 3 million, migrating with zebras and gazelles going along for their own reasons. We also saw vicious baboons and then hippos and crocodiles bathing, Lions waiting for their prey, as gentle giraffes munching on trees half their size. High end camping is the way to go! We have a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide for the week on our private tour.”

We asked one of our leading Ladakh guides what he especially adores about trekking in the Ladakh region of northern India, especially the Markha Valley trek, a trek we offer from Mid-May to the beginning of October. Climb Aconcagua via Normal Route
Trekkers are already booking their treks up Aconcagua. The climbing period is November to March, and AWR has group departures December to February. We recommend climbing via the Normal Route for the best chance of success.
