Finally, the big day at Machu Picchu! Some people chose to hike Huayna Picchu first (optional). Some people spent the next night at the Sanctuary Lodge, which is located right outside Machu Picchu. Another option is to hike Machu Picchu Mountain.
Schedule:
- Need passports and ticket for the bus + entry to MaPi and Huayna Picchu (3 tickets)
- 6:30am meet after check out
- No bathrooms inside Machu Picchu, but bathrooms outside (2 soles) by restaurant
- 2 hours hike of Huana Picchu
- 2 hour circuit tour of Machu Picchu
- Half hour bus up/down
- 1:30pm lunch (Great lunch in the Inkaterra Cafe)
- 3:00pm for train at 3:20pm
Bus to Machu Picchu:
- First bus at 5:30pm
- Can only get on bus half hour before entry time to MaPi
- Still a long line for bus
- Bus 30 minutes long
- Lots of guides for hire by bus
Huayna Picchu:
- Some people had poles, but steep sections have hand railings (one pole is good)
- Enter at 8am
- 1 hour up 9am
- 9:20am down
- 10:18am out 40 minutes
Machu Picchu:
- Circuit 4 is one of the longer trails through Machu Picchu.
- After Huayna Picchu, you have to leave Machu Picchu and re-enter with the second ticket.

- Done at 1pm
- Board Bus at 1:10pm, 1:45pm down
Train:
- Board Train at 3pm
- Depart at 3:20pm
- 1h50m to Ollantaytambo
- Fashion show on train
- Assigned seats
- Restrooms on train and train station
- 5:20pm off at Ollantaytambo
- Some people stayed in the Sacred Valley and some drove to Cusco.
